EDFI

edfi European Development Finance Institutions (EDFI) is an organization for cooperation between the European DFIs. Through EDFI, the organizations share their knowledge about topics of common interest and collect statistics. The effects of this cooperation include the development of a common set of legal agreements and the establishment of indicators of development effects. In cooperation with the European Investment Bank (EIB), the members of EDFI have established the co-financing facility, European Financing Partners (EFP) which offers long-term financing to the private sector in developing countries. At the end of 2009, EFP had committed itself to investments of EUR 330 million. Norfund is an active contributor to EDFI.

The Nordic DFIs have also established similarly close relationships based on the close Nordic cooperation in the field of development policy. These take the form of co-financing of investments and efforts to increase the focus on the role of the private sector in generating sustainable development in the poorest countries.
