Good start of 2013

In January 2013, Norfund has signed a new loan agreement with AMRET, Cambodia's second microfinance institution (MFI), and the Kenyan SME-fund Fanisi has invested in a drug distribution company in Rwanda.

AMRET has more than 230 000 micro finance clients, and Norfund first gave a loan to the company in 2008.

Norfund was one of the founders of the fund Fanisi in 2009. The fund has now bought a stake in the Rwandan company Sophar Ltd, which distributes drugs. With the help of this investment Sophar hope to increase the drug dealer's product range from 300 to 9000.
