The new Radisson Blu Hotel in Nairobi was formally opened by four Nordic Ministers on the 15th of December 2015.
The Danish Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr. Kristian Jensen, The Swedish Minister for Enterprise and Innovation Mr. Mikael Damberg, The Finnish Minister for Trade and development Mrs. Lenita Toivakka and the Norwegian Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr. Morten Høglund participated in the fomal opening of the new Radisson Blue hotel in Nairobi. The event was arranged during the Ministerial WTO meeting in Nairobi .
The hotel and tourism sector is an important sector for Kenya, contributing to 15% of their foreign exchange earnings. Investments in the hotel- and tourism sector create employment and income for a broad segment of the population.
Norfund has contributed with a loan to the establishment of the new Radisson Blue hotel through the investment company Afrinord together with our Nordic sister funds IFU (Denmark), Swedfund (Sweden) and Finnfund (Finland).
