- More than 200 million people worldwide—disproportionately youth—are unemployed.
- Another 2 billion working age adults—mostly women—remain outside the workforce.
- On top of this, developing countries will need to create 600 million additional jobs by 2030 - just to keep up with population growth.
“Creating jobs for development” is the topic of the Norfund Summer Conference this year and main focus will be on the link between investments and job creation.
The Norwegian Minister of International Development Nikolai Astrup, the Ugandaen Minister of Trade, Ms Kyambadde and professor at Oxford University, Mr Paul Collier have already confirmed their participation. Amongst other invited are several representatives from Norfund’s investees in Africa, Asia and Central America.
