Banco Lafise is one of Nicaragua´s biggest banks providing the most extensive reach in the market. It is a universal bank, focusing on SME lending.

The prevalent funding in Nicaragua is mostly short term and there is a lack of access to medium-long term capital. This is especially challening for SMEs.

Banco Lafise has 79 branches in Nicaragua and 160 ATMs. It is thereby ideal for reaching all areas of Nicaragua, especially SMEs and agribusinesses in the rural areas.

Lafise has a long-term relationship with Norfund stretching about 15 years. In 2018, Norfund signed NOK 156 million (USD 20 million) in subordinated debt to the bank. This subdebt is part of an IFC syndicate, and it will help Lafise to grow further and give access to capital for more SMEs in Nicaragua .
