Próspero, a Norfund investee, is recognized as one of the funds in the world that is best designed to create social and environmental good.
The 2017 Best for the World Fund list recognizes private debt and equity funds that are setting the measurement and management bar in impact investing. Six years ago, the independent nonprofit B Lab created the GIIRS Impact Rating system to help fund managers assess and verify the impacts of their portfolio companies. GIIRS Impact Ratings provide a framework of impact measurement and management that helps investors and companies assess their performance against a rigorous, comprehensive standard, the B Impact Assessment. Every year, B Lab awards those companies that scores in the top 10% of the entire global community in social and environmental impact.
For the second year in a row, Norfund's investee - the Próspero Microfinanzas Fund (Próspero) - was recognized on B Lab’s Best for the World Funds list. Próspero makes equity and quasi-equity investments in early and intermediate stage microfinance entities with a focus on Central America.
Próspero's work as a GIIRS Impact Rated fund underscores their belief that standards in measuring social and environmental performance are necessary to build an efficient and effective marketplace.
Together with the other funds chosen in 2017, Próspero represents the growing global opportunity for investors to align purpose and profits.
