Byer over hele verden st\u00e5r overfor felles utfordringer som trafikkproblemer, mangelfull tilgang til grunnleggende tjenester som elektrisitet, vann og sanit\u00e6r, mangel p\u00e5 tilstrekkelig boligmasse, forfallende infrastruktur og \u00f8kende luftforurensning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I dag bor 883 millioner mennesker i slumomr\u00e5der globalt. Utfordringene knyttet til urbanisering kan imidlertid m\u00f8tes p\u00e5 m\u00e5ter som gj\u00f8r det mulig for byer \u00e5 vokse b\u00e6rekraftig, \u00f8ke ressursutnyttelsen, redusere forurensning og bekjempe fattigdom. Investeringer i prosjekter og private selskaper innen avfallsh\u00e5ndtering kan spille en sentral rolle i \u00e5 st\u00f8tte videre og b\u00e6rekraftig urban vekst.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For \u00e5 styre innsatsen v\u00e5r og tydeliggj\u00f8re hvordan investeringene v\u00e5re bidrar til langsiktig utvikling, har Norfund utviklet en Theory of Change for investeringer i denne sektoren.
