Bronkhortspruit Biogas Plant is a 4 MW waste-to-energy project in South Africa developed by Bio2Watt. The project utilises biomass wastes in the Gauteng area in a small scale power plant, and sells power to the BMW factory by wheeling over the local municipal and Eskom networks. Norfund provided preferred equity to part fund the construction of the business, and has subsequently provided additional loans for working capital and additional capital expenditure purposes. The plant became operational in 2015.
