In 2009, Norfund provided a loan to this project through the Small Enterprise Loan mechanism. Scandinavian Water Technology develops and establishes community water systems that provide safe drinking water to local communities. The local communities themselves participate in operating and maintaining the systems, which ensures ownership and sustainability of the projects.
The company never managed to scale up sales in Africa and went trhough a restructuring and a merger with Malthe Winje. The project company has changed name to Plastec AS. All rights in Newco (now called ScanWater). Plastec AS now a share of 40% in Newco (Malthe Winje 40%, L. Brenninkmeijer 10%, C. Berg 10%.
