Yara fertiliser terminal Dar

Norfund’s investment in Yara Tanzania Limited financed the construction of a modern fertilizer terminal and handling facility in the port of Dar es Salaam. The expansion of the facilities made quality fertilizer more readily available in smaller packages and as specialized types benefiting particularly the small scale farmers. Yara Tanzania also provides free extension services through agronomists that travel around the countryside and give farmers advice on how to best utilize the fertilizer. This project fitted well into Norfund’s agricultural sector investments in Tanzania and provided increased insight into the sector.
